Couple moving into new home

There is nothing like a fresh start in a new house or apartment! Upon seeing the uncluttered space and bare walls, many become excited to start picking out new paint, furnishings, and decor. However, before you move right in, put on the breaks, and take care of some cleaning basics.

No matter renting or buying, short term staying or making your forever home, a pre-move clean is a must! No matter how clean it appears on the surface, there is inevitably dust, dirt, and grime left behind. Even in brand new construction, there can be tons of fine dust left from the build.

Let’s face it, there are parts of our home we seldom clean due to being too difficult to get to because of furniture too. A pre-move clean ensures we are off to a clean and healthy start in a new space.

New home cleaning tips

We know you’re anxious to get moved in, and when you’re excited, a cleaning list seems even longer. However, it should only take you a day or two to handle these steps.

If you’re just too busy to set aside a couple of extra days, reach out to our team. We would love to help check some of these items off your to-do list! Here are our top move-in cleaning recommendations:

Clean high before you clean low: Seldom touched light fixtures, ceiling fans, and shelving can contain a lot of dust!

Sanitize the fridge: One of the first things you will want to move in is your food. If your new home has a pre-existing fridge, a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar helps to sanitize and remove germs and any sticky gunk left behind.

Clean frequently touched surfaces: Light switches, door, and cabinet handles, sinks, and kitchen appliances should be next.

Clean out cabinets and drawers: Remove crumbs to ensure pests aren’t attracted to pantry items and other food storage. Wipes these surfaces down with an antibacterial wipe. Now, you’re ready to move in and start cooking!

Disinfect the bathrooms: Begin with soap and water, and follow up with an antibacterial spray to get rid of any lingering germs. Install new toilet seats. It’s a small expense, and it ensures they are truly clean.

Don’t forget to sanitize all touch surfaces in the bathroom as well such as the door handles, toilet paper holder, lights, faucets, and light switches.

A-Team’s disinfectant service goes beyond a good scrubbing

During these times with COVID-19 on our radar, we’re all doing all we can to avoid getting sick. To provide our customers with added peace of mind, we’re also offering a disinfectant service

Before you worry that this service is another thing to hold up your move, know this service is same-day completion. The disinfectant we use also kills 99.9999% of germs within 10 mins and works on a variety of viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Our professionals will apply a heavy blanket of disinfection with high volume fog on exposed surfaces within the structure. They will clean/disinfect areas, and wipe high traffic surfaces, giving you added protection from viruses. You have the convenience of getting carpet cleaning and disinfecting from one company, and the products we use are safe for anyone. You’ll be able to re-enter in just 10 minutes.

Cleaning hard surface flooring

Now, you’re ready to move on to floors. Use a vacuum attachment to clean edges and corners of tile, wood, and linoleum flooring. Sweep up the remaining debris. Don’t vacuum surfaces unless your vacuum is designed to do so. When mopping, make sure to use a product that’s safe for that surface.

If you have tile, now it’s time to really do the dirty work. Without professional equipment, scrubbing on your hands and knees is the only way to achieve exceptionally clean tile and grout, but who has time for that?

We are equipped with a truck-mounted van system that allows for heat and pressure up to 1000 psi, getting even the most difficult stains from grout or tile. When finished, your tile and grout will look as new as it can with a professional cleaning! What better time to invest in this service than right before moving into a new space?

Cleaning your carpet

When it comes to carpet, check first for any needed carpet repairs. If anything looks amiss, give us a call. Our Technicians are certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) in carpet repair and can repair a variety of carpet damage such as split seams, carpet ripples, pet damage, carpet tears, small carpet burns, and carpet water damage.

Now that you’re ready for carpet cleaning. Your carpet acts as a sponge capturing unwanted dust, soil, pollen, dander, food particles, and a host of other contaminants. Keep in mind that vacuuming alone does not improve air quality or remove allergens and contaminants. Our technicians can eliminate these unwanted invaders, cleaning deep down and bringing back vibrant color and beauty to your carpet.

Does anyone ever say they love moving? It’s definitely a laborious process! With a little time and a lot of effort though, you’ll soon get to relax in your new home.
